Conventions Of Music Videos
1) Performance based: ie live band performance (U2, Likin Park - rock)
2) Narrative based: ie where a storyline is evident (country and R&B)
3) Abstract/artistic: creative and random (Fatboy Slim, radio head, apex twins)
- Most videos are a combination of both (usually 1 and 2)
- Music videos always have artist performing in between have storyline interwoven
Music video tips
- Either completely abstract / abstract with no performance
or
- If just a performance then it should be film in at least 5 different locations
